Happy 4th of July everyone! It’s a beautiful sunny summer day here in Seattle and the family is looking forward to a picnic and then, of course, fireworks over the lake. All in all a good day to show off our American pride!
Here are a few good-looking goodies I found over at Zazzle that are helping us do just that:
With a new baby in the family, I’ve been looking for quick, cute projects to make. I found this excellent tutorial from Green Mommy’s blog that shows how to create those sweet blankets with colorful ribbon tags that you may haveseen in the store.
I’m still gathering the materials to make my own…I’ll try to post photos when I have them. (The photo on the left is from the tutorial.) They are small blankets so they should make up quickly.

Exploring DeviantArt.com again lately and came across another amazing drawing of something coming “to life” from a sketch. This is Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII and the details are incredible. Fantastic.
Recently I needed to learn how to do an invisible ladder stitch to close some stuffed items I’m making. I found this excellent tutorial video that I thought I’d share. Hope you also find it useful.
My niece Allyson’s latest pen and ink drawing is “Flora, the Woodland Fairy”.
The brunette fairy is wearing green and black striped thigh-high stockings, a matching green short frilly skirt and brown fitted corset. Her wings resemble leaves and branches.
We scanned the hand-drawn sketch, digitized it and then colored it using Illustrator.
We’ve also created a few items in our DarcyPlace shop at Zazzle.com. The customizable items can be personalized with any text you’d like.

So that’s something you don’t see every day! A little lipstick, some leftover Halloween paint, a lot of creativity, and you’ve got some foxy lips! We love it!
Here’s a lovely photo I took of the Cape at Cape Kiwanda on the Oregon Coast during a visit there with my best friend in September 1998. Our hotel was right across the street from the beach and the Cape was only a short hike up the beach itself. The nights were black and starry. And up on the Cape we could watch the waves crash into the rocks below us. A lovely quiet vacation location.
